Custom Record Not Attaching to Jobs? Linking Troubleshooting
Fix issues attaching custom records to jobs or estimates in Local Business Pro.
Quick Answer: If you can't attach a record to a job, ensure the customer has that record type created first. Records belong to contacts and then link to jobs/estimates.
How Record Attachment Works
Records belong to contacts first. When attaching to a job:
- The contact must have the record (or you create it)
- Select from the contact's existing records
- Or create a new record that saves to contact AND attaches to job
Step-by-Step Fix
- Open the job
- Find the Custom Records section
- Click Add Record
- If no records appear, the contact doesn't have any yet
- Click Create New to add one
- Fill in the record details
- Save - it attaches to both the contact and the job
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why don't I see any records to attach?
A: The contact doesn't have any records of that type yet. Create one first.
Q: Can I attach a record from a different contact?
A: No, records are linked to specific contacts. Create a new record for this contact.
